8 Benefits to Holding a Webinar

Dan Richmond asked:

There once was a time in the business world, where if a company wanted to convey a message to a large group of people they would hold a business conference or a seminar. The only problem with that was people were required to travel to a specific location in order to attend. Thanks to a far more powerful tool available to businesses today, this “old school” way of conducting conferences and seminars has been replaced and greatly improved.

A web-based seminar, better know as a webinar, is a way for businesses to project a message to a large audience, without asking guests to spend time and money traveling to a physical location. Webinars can be used in a variety of different ways. From hosting online conferences, seminars and lectures to sales and marketing presentations, businesses in every industry can benefit from this dynamic way of communication. Webinars can be used to:

Build-up business contacts – When a business is new to an industry, holding a webinar is a great way to introduce the business and start building a brand name. The audience can put a face with a business name as well as interact with the speaker. This builds credibility and creates a connection between attendees and presenters. Showcase business as a recognized industry authority – In an oversaturated market, standing out from the competition is extremely important. Webinars allow a business to build-up their image as experts in their field and show they are the “go-to” guys for industry related issues. Promote a product – Webinars are the perfect platform to sell and promote products such as books and videos. During the webinar, the speaker can reference clips from a video or pages from a book they are trying to promote. At the end of the seminar the audience can be directed to a purchase page or be given more information on how they can obtain the product. Maintain close communication with clients – Since webinars make business more personal, businesses can use this to interact with their existing client base. Online meetings can be used to host client question and answer sessions, product release updates and client training sessions. Keep expenses low – Webinars provide businesses with a way to save thousands of dollars on conference or seminar related expenses. Rather than renting out a convention hall or large room for the audience to gather in, a speaker can conduct the webinar from their office and attendees can watch and interact from wherever they please. It also eliminates the need for costly travel. Add value to a business – Offering a webinar can add value to your business. When a business frequently hosts online webinars, they are building customer loyalty, adding value to the products and services they sell as well as staying fresh in the minds of prospects and clients. Create a profit center – Businesses can make money by hosting webinars. If a business is speaking about a hot industry related topic they can charge people to attend or even offer recorded downloads to be purchased. Capture sales leads – Hosting an online webinar is a great opportunity for marketing or sales teams to gather leads. During sign-up, businesses can make it a requirement for attendees to register. The information gathered from the registration can then be turned over to the sales team as warm leads to follow-up on.

Webinars provide businesses with an engaging way to reach out to a group of people separated by location. No matter how a business chooses to use this technology, it is a powerful tool for business growth, client retention and community outreach.

Tips on Exciting Your Webinar Audience

Robert Plank asked:

A webinar simply is a transmission of a seminar over the web. The presentation can be offered free or as a paid service.

Whatever the case, you must ensure the session is lively enough to capture the attention and interest of participants.

That’s why you should make sure you are fascinating to your audience and able to assure them of great benefits and go ahead and deliver results.

So, how can you fascinate your audience?

Be responsive to your audience. Listen carefully to their needs and make an effort to satisfy them – this is the greatest secret of all.

Most presenters will appear monotonous, main reason being they are unaware of what the audience is thinking. If you are not concentrating on what the audience wants to hear, then generating enough interest in them that they would want to continue listening to you will become an uphill task.

Encourage your audience to participate in your presentation by asking questions, giving comments and suggestions in their question boxes during the presentation. This will ensure you are holding a two way conversation instead of you giving them a prolonged speech.

Also it helps if you inform the audience beforehand of the broad topics you will be covering in that particular presentation and how they will gain from this information.

For example you could turn a boring topic about designing a web page into a more interesting topic by stating that you will be giving them tips on how to improve their web pages in very easy steps. You could then go ahead and mention how these web page enhancements could increase the website visibility and that in turn may translate in more sales with very little input on their part.

Words of caution though, always make sure you deliver on your promises. If you said you will give your audience tips on how to improve sales on their website, make sure you do just that before you finish your presentation.

Also, make sure that you use a language that everyone understands. Explain how it will work out. If it is redesigning the web pages, mention how added functionality must be taken into account for someone to benefit from whatever you are presenting.

Ensure that the gains you promise your audience are easily and clearly understood and even go ahead and give freebies. Free samples can come in terms of scripts that will improve functionality or you can even offer some free service such as free redesigning of the home pages of their websites. Also make sure whatever script or other freebie you give out is something simple to implement and can be applied immediately.

Please remember to be captivating on your webinar, capture your audiences’ attention, listen and respond to their concerns, guarantee them substantial gains and make a point to deliver on your promises, use simple language for all to understand and last but not least ensure at the end of your presentation every one walks away with something small to and try out.

A Career In Webinar Hosting? Why Not?

Nahshon Mediros asked:

If you’re still marinating the thought of a second income generating project, how about a career in webinar hosting? Your ebullience and charisma will carry the whole thing, even if you failed a screen test at Fox Pictures. How about trying it?

What is Webinar Hosting?

If you’re beginning to be confused about all that jargon calling a webinar by many names then stick to this definition – a webinar is just like your face-to-face seminar but it’s on the web. A palette of software tools make it possible to use webinar hosting features like sharing files and exchanging ideas on real time.

What actually goes on during a webinar? During the web based activity, participants or presenters can use audio conferencing just using their computer speakers, show off their computer screen for product live demos and use the recording mode for playback.

Webinar hosting becomes easier when the tools allow for registration and presentation of survey polls and animation. In the workplace, knowledge about the variegated features of web hosting can earn you the admiration and envy of techno-phobics. You can shop around for small and medium businesses needing techies to manage their webinars. See the potential?

For starters, you can tell your potential customers that they need to have a computer, Internet access, and a phone line just for the webinars. Suggest headphones so they can free their hands during the live discussions. At this point, you can also encourage them to avail of promotional discounts on gadgets to save them money – if there are offers flooding the market.

Starting Your Career

Don’t be intimidated by the big companies providing hosting services for webinars. Not that you are going to invent a software, you’ll just provide technical service for those starting out or testing the viability of web conferencing.

You can smuggle a slice of the pie into your own plate. But how? Enterprising people have great ideas. First, you’ll market yourself after you’ve mastered the software, then sell your ability to small and medium businesses struggling in the technical fog.

You can serve as the webinar facilitator to relieve workers from having add-ons to their already long list of to-dos. Talk to the company head about the advantages of having you around. You can help them reach a larger audience, help them reduce travel cost, and spruce up their PowerPoint presentations.

You can also walk them through the maze to show how they can efficiently streaming files on their desktops and much more. By just showing them around, you’ll gain their approval to handle their webinar hosting. By adjusting your schedule you can have that extra income by just staying at home too.

Sometimes business ideas are hard to come by and if you’ve hit on something it should be new and relevant to the times. Being your own business is appealing but opportunities are far and in-between. Why not strike when the iron is hot?

If the idea of a career in web hosting on the side is appealing, start brushing up on the etiquettes of web conferencing. Go web hopping and look for more great ideas and tips to develop your expertise. You’re selling yourself as a consultant and an expert; you can’t afford to slip on your first outing.

Need to Create a Webinar?

Steven Essa asked:

Due to the competitive market, webinar has probably lost track of the rivalry with Podcast. In fairness however, webinar differs from Podcast since it is conducted live. It give opportunity to its audience to provide feedback and ask questions. It is interactive just like the conventional seminars and training.

Over the internet, it is noticeable that people are used to getting entertained by webinar sessions posted on websites. As the web administrator or business entrepreneur owning the website, what you want to do is to ensure that you are creating impact adding values to your website visitors and users. Clicking on running the webinar session is an example of actions taht each user will do and should be taken advantage of. Let me discuss the key factors to consider when creating a webinar.

Obtain Webinar Software

There are Webinar software available on the Internet or Webinar hosting services, which may cost around $50. One must create a series of one webinar to save the expenses and be sure that after each webinar, are able to have the file of each session which is done so that one can give them to their subscribers if they have missed that session.

Good Preparation

Before starting the webinar, one should make a organized preparation of what the things needed are and how the webinar session is going to be like, as there as some logistics that need to be taken care of like good audio, nice background, presentation slides, and of course, a presenter. Receiving the presentation emails and other information relevant to the webinar session should be considered.

Make a Brief Description of `Webinar’

In some cases, when people are familiar with the basics of webinar but really don’t have the right information about webinar, hear an invite for a webinar session, most of them perceive webinars as sessions to sell products without realizing that it can come in many forms with different purposes. Nevertheless, to keep the audience aware and willing of your invite to attend the planned webinar session, you may want to send an invite tagged as meeting on your emails. It has been made easy for people who understand the basics of webinar presentation. Your goal is to make your target audience feel that they are part of the group hence will definitely encourage them more to attend.

NO Obvious Sales Pitches

By mentioning that one has no sales pitches in the upcoming `meeting’ in your email, people are more willing to come and learn from you. When your audience are just up to getting information, it is not wise to up sell your products. Thus, be sure to have no obvious sales pitches AT ALL in your webinar.

Generate Sales

Now, in the absence of the sales pitches, how do you think you can generate sales? The best thing to do is to include downloadable materials for the audience as take away. To gain attention, it is ideal to provide take aways for your audience. The product can be any digital materials or better yet, any affordable leaflets or something that carries information of your product. Inviting a guest speaker who has known credibility for endorsing products related to yours.

When creating a webinar, these are just simple tips that should be taken into consideration. We do business today depending much on revolutionary innovation. Unlike before when we have to provide product information face to face through leaflet distribution, marketing products is different now. You can create the desired impact of getting your products remembered by your prospects through webinar which will compel your audience to buy.

Successfully Hosting a Webinar – Tips to Get You Started – Part 2

Nicholas Hurd asked:

If you want to bring some life to the webinar so the audience does not get bored, consider including animations, pictures, or short video clips throughout the presentation. You can also use interactive features such as polls at critical moments. This will give you some feedback so you can see that your audience is actually paying attention.

When it comes time for Q A, make sure you are assertive and get questions asked and answered very quickly. You also have to keep these open discussions on topic so they remain relevant.

Surveys will help you focus your presentation so it delivers what most participants expect, but they will also help you determine how successful you were in the end. You can survey at the time of registration to determine expectations and again after the webinar to judge the success of the event.

You should post this webinar on your website for those who find you later on or could not make the event. This will get some interest for future events.

Make sure to send thank you emails out to all attendees so they know you appreciate them showing up. You can also inform them of upcoming events in this email. Also send emails to those who registered but didn’t show, as you can extend a hand of welcome to future events instead.

All of these considerations are very important to the success of your webinar, but nothing is more important than your selection of a webinar hosting service. If you pick a weak service that cannot handle the size of your event, the entire thing could fail miserably and send a bad message about you. At the current time, the leading services include Dimdim, GoToMeeting and GotoWebinar. Dimdim is the most economical way to go with rates starting under $20 a month. It also has a download and browser-free system which is very functional. That said, this service lacks when it comes to security features. That is the area where GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar steal the limelight.

With GoToMeeting you can expect high quality services that are reliable over time. You can also expect reasonable prices, typically starting around $50 per month. Annual rates are also offered. For this reasonable rate you can hold as many webinars as you want, as long as they include no more than 15 participants. You can also make unlimited toll free and VoIP calls.

If you want to hold larger webinars with more people, then GoToWebinar is the way to go. They allow you to include up to 1,000 people in your audience and still offer unlimited events with membership. You have the option of monthly or yearly rates with prices starting around $100 per month. A lot of large, prestigious businesses are now using this service for their online events.
